The Recruits is the student organization of the National Shellfisheries Association. It was formed under the direction of the NSA president Dr. Sandra Shumway, at the 1991 meeting held in Portland, Maine.

The Objectives of The Recruits

• Encourage student involvement in NSA
• Assist the society as needed

The Activities of The Recruits

• staffing the sales booth to sell NSA items during annual meetings
• assisting with audio/visual support for meeting presentations
• organizing student social events (e.g., mixers, breakfasts, lunches)
• writing a student-oriented, informational column for the NSA newsletter
